IHS Chrismon
IHS Chrismon
IHS are the first three letters of 'Jesus' in Greek, this has been used to represent Jesus from the third century. From the middle ages, they also were used in the latin phrase "Jesus Hominum Salvator" which means "Jesus, Saviour of men". And in English they can mean "In His [Jesus's] Service".
Chrismons, meaning "Christ monograms," are white and gold ornaments that symbolize Christ, traditionally displayed on Christmas trees. The white represents Christ’s purity and perfection, while gold signifies His glory and nobility, and the evergreen tree symbolizes eternal life through His sacrifice. These ornaments serve as reminders of God’s gift of Jesus, with each design pointing to aspects of His life and divinity.
All Chrismons are between 4-5" big and made of white and mirrored gold acrylic.
