The Fish Chrismon
The Fish Chrismon
The Fish is one of the oldest Christian symbols. The letters IXOYE from the Greek word for fish (ichthus), stand for Jesus, Christ, God, Son, Savior. The statement "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior" affirmed the belief of early Christians in the twofold nature of Jesus Christ being both fully human and fully divine. Jesus also called his disciples "fishers of men."
Chrismons, meaning "Christ monograms," are white and gold ornaments that symbolize Christ, traditionally displayed on Christmas trees. The white represents Christ’s purity and perfection, while gold signifies His glory and nobility, and the evergreen tree symbolizes eternal life through His sacrifice. These ornaments serve as reminders of God’s gift of Jesus, with each design pointing to aspects of His life and divinity.
All Chrismons are between 4-5" big and made of white and mirrored gold acrylic.
